The Community Show #85

By | December 15, 2016

Phil Bungay, Laura Burton-Lawrence, Jackie RussellBroadcast on Thursday 15 December 2016.  Our studio guests were: Phil Bungay, Lead Co-ordinator of the Parkinson’s UK: Medway and District Working Age Group and Jackie Russell who is setting up a new group in Ashford.  Did you know – one person in every 500 has Parkinson’s.  That’s about 127,000 people in the UK.  Symptoms and how quickly they progress is different for everyone.  There is also no cure but there are drugs and treatments available to manage many of the symptoms.  After listening to the show, if you could just tell one of your connections about what you have heard about Parkinson’s and how differently if affects so many people, we would help raise awareness about the condition.  Maybe you’d like to help or maybe you’d like to get in touch to find out more information for yourself or someone you know.  The support the group provides in Medway (and there are other towns across Kent which are similar) really help those diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
