Broadcast on Thursday 29 September 2016. Our studio guest was Liz Thorne from the Tenterden Day Centre which provides help, support and companionship to older people and those with disabilities to help them enjoy themselves and take part in activities with others. Liz has been working in the voluntary section for a number of years and for the past 2 years has enjoyed making a difference to the lives of those who used the services in and around the Tenterden area. The centre organise many fundraising events throughout the year and you can find a full calendar on their website. About 15% of their funding comes from KCC and the rest the centre need to raise themselves.
Listen to the show to hear about how day centres throughout Kent work together, the support they provide and the difference they make to the lives of those living in the local communities. Liz has also been organising a special fundraising event taking place this Sunday in aid of two heart charities who have provided Liz with a huge amount of support: CardiomyopathyUK and Pumping Marvellous.
