West Kent Mind on The Community ShowBroadcast on Thursday 4th February 2016.  Our studio guest was Jill Roberts, CEO at West Kent Mind charity and perfect timing too with today being “Time to Talk Day” encouraging the nation to talk about mental health.  West Kent Mind have been around for 50 years with their roots originally starting out from a shed in Sevenoaks.  Since then the charity have grown and are providing more and more services to those in the West Kent (and further afield) areas.  There are over 180 local Minds throughout England and Wales.  Each local Mind is an independent charity run by local people, for local people.  Each is responsible for its own funding and the services it provides, but all are affiliated to Mind.  Within Kent you’ll find them in Sevenoaks, Folkestone, Maidstone and Dartford.  You can find a map of all the local Minds and Mind shops here.

Listen to the show to find out more about this great charity who provide a huge range of specialist support to help those with either ongoing mental health issues or for the ad hoc glitches we have to deal with.  There are also plenty of opportunities if you’d like to help with: fundraising, volunteering, supporting etc.
