The Community Show #21

By | September 17, 2015

Laura Burton-Lawrence, Roland Gooding OBE, Russell Burton-Lawrence in the Channel Radio studioBroadcast on Thursday 17th September.  Our studio guest was Roland Gooding OBE, Principal at Valence School in Westerham (Kent, TN16 1QN).  Valence is a truly unique school which caters for the needs of children and young people through the ages of 4 until 19 years who have physical disabilities and complex medical needs.  While the school receives funding from Kent County Council to cover the basic running costs, the school are still very reliant on donors and the fundraising activities of the Friends of Valence (registered charity No.275686) in order to be able to provide more for the students who attend the school.

With the school running at capacity (100 students with just over 50 of those boarding students) and with 200 staff to support and teach the students, it’s a big operation.  The school also provide Outreach services into mainstream schools throughout Kent.  Listen to the show to hear in detail about this special school and maybe you’d like to get involved and support this superb facility that does so much throughout the area!
