The Community Show #10

By | July 3, 2015

Russell and LauraBroadcast on Thursday 2nd July 2015.  Due to Operation Stack in place our studio guest couldn’t make it so for the first time since we launched the show we went solo!  Thank goodness for all the activities taking place around Kent over the next couple of weeks so we were certainly not short on show material.  Our key focus of the show was Fairtrade as we had a spokesperson from the Edenbridge Fairtrade Town Group booked.  Did you know Edenbridge was the first town in Kent to be awarded Fairtrade status?  Fortunately Laura was part of the group a few years ago and was able to share some information on what Fairtrade is and what local groups such as the one in Edenbridge do in order to have their town recognised as being Fairtrade.

So, on Saturday 11th July Edenbridge will be celebrating 10 years as a Fairtrade Town and holding an event in Edenbridge High Street.  The Fairtrade Street Party will be taking place between 10am and 12noon with refreshments, stalls, free activities for children and entertainment from Edenbridge Town Band, Free Range Folk, and headlining will be Amy Winehouse impersonator “Back to Winehouse”!  If you’re near the area then pop along and find out more about Fairtrade!
